An advanced aerospace engineering company with the vision to create a better future for aviation, Horizon is building a team of diverse individuals that understand and utilize the power of collective critical thinking. This is not a typical 8-5, Monday-Friday job – but if you are an extremely talented and motivated self-starter, and are enthused by the possibilities expressed on our website, it could be exactly what you are looking for. We offer an environment to elevate your talent as a critical member of our high-performance team, working hard and celebrating milestones along the way.

Interested? Here’s some more details on what you’ll be responsible for:

  • Efficiently produce detailed drawings and specifications using dedicated computer software (CAD) including parts lists and cost information.
  • Work closely with the Chief Engineer and Composite Design Engineer to select cost effective materials and construction techniques.
  • Make basic computations to determine layout of charts, strength of materials and requirements for structural design.
  • Organize and maintain a design and CAD digital file database for each project.
  • Revise computer-aided designs and plans to comply with modified specifications made during actual construction.
  • Interface with departmental personnel to obtain details of equipment and materials requirements.
  • Brainstorm as part of a team or developing design concepts using CAD (computer-aided design), and other traditional design tools.
  • Review plans and writing technical reports to meet project specifications.
  • Employ problem-solving strategies and find solutions to product design issues.
  • Successfully carry out assignments on project design teams.
  • See your efforts come to fruition on a daily basis!

Ideally, you’ll have these qualifications (but we can flex if you’re a good fit):

  • Post-secondary degree.
  • Engineering degree preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years in aerospace design experience.
  • The main design tools will be the SolidWorks suite of 3D products. Experience with other platforms would be an asset.
  • Proven analytical skills and the ability to identify customer needs and the ability to effectively communicate them required.
  • Able to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Demonstrated ability to finish multiple projects on time and scale.
  • Computer literate, including effective working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, e-mail, and Adobe Products.
  • Ability to follow through and complete overlapping projects.
  • High level of critical and logical thinking, analysis, and/or reasoning to identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts.
  • Excellent organization and project management skills, including the ability to multitask in a fast-paced product development environment.
  • Able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Analytical and creative thinker.
  • Fun.

Please submit a thoughtful cover letter and resumé, outlining why you are the right fit for us, and we will contact you for an interview. We look forward to hearing from you.
